My father has died.

Posted: July 17, 2016 in Uncategorized

In my last post, I promised to update this blog more regularly.  I have not because my father, Phil Joyce, died on June 22 and I’ve been busy arranging his funeral services, settling his estate and caring for my mother. I debated with myself whether or not to mention this. I never intended for this blog to be about my personal life. I’m not trying to hide anything about my personal life, and there’s nothing wrong with that type of blog. It’s just not what I’m going for with this one. But ultimately, I decided that in light of the fact that I’ve used this blog to compose eulogies to artists I didn’t even know personally, I should at least mention my father’s passing. I will provide a link to an article about him that ran in the Philadelphia Inquirer. I furnished most of the information for it, and I thought the writer did an excellent job. I would prefer not to add anything to it. Not because I don’t have anything to add. On the contrary. I have so much that I wouldn’t know where to start. I could write for days, weeks and months. Produce volumes of text. And it wouldn’t be enough. So I’ll leave it with this. He was a great man. I loved him. I miss him. But it was time, and he was ready. Here’s the article:
